Statistics out today show an increase in the teenage pregnancy rates as well as infant mortality all thanks to government spending cuts for lower income households. Spending on specific prenatal care and pregnancy prevention programs services have been slashed in Michigan from over $20 million per year to around $3.5 million per year. So while Republicans push to prevent savings like those in the Health care reform, and fight tooth and nail to stop further regulations for the big banks that catapulted us towards this recession in the first place, they are putting the lives of young mothers and unborn children at risk.
Hey, at least we have the greatest military in the world. Who cares if we have a few less Americans to defend because our spending priorities favor the rich and our military might?
